Cruise and Holmes Divorce Now Officially Closed

Cruise and Holmes

Filed court records in a New York City court indicated that the Cruise-Holmes high-profile divorce case is now officially closed.

Millions of people from all over the world have been glued to all news related to the divorce of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise who have been married for five years. The superstar couple married in Italy November 2006 after Cruise proposed at the Eiffel Tower.

Less than two weeks after Holmes filed for divorce in June, both parties announced that they had reached a settlement. By Hollywood standards, the resolution was a very quick one. Although no prenuptial agreement was mentioned in the filing, Holmes’ did request for primary residential custody and sole legal custody of their six-year-old daughter, Suri.

Reports show that Holmes listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind the split.  According to Holmes’ attorney, his client’s primary concern has always been and continues to be the best interests of her daughter.

Cruise appears to have the most to lose in this divorce, as criticisms and questions continue to be raised about his religious beliefs and personal life.

This divorce ends Holmes’ first marriage, while it ends Cruise’s third marriage. Cruise was formerly married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman, with whom he has two children.
